The Scientific And Spiritual Reasons As To Why Music Matters So Much

Have you ever wondered why Music is just such an important and integral part of life? When you ask most people about one thing they could not live without , ‘music’ is perhaps one of the common responses.

It has the ability to make you cry, laugh and feel deeply in places that cannot otherwise be reached. But why? Well I think the answer lies somewhere in the realms of quantum physics. As many of you are aware we’re all just made up of a hell of a lot of atoms – 7*1027 atoms to be precise (that’s a 7 followed by 27 zeros!) And these atoms are forever vibrating , and they vibrate at different frequencies meaning there is a sound or noise that our ears could never hear but our atoms are constantly dancing to this sound and it’s this energy that is at the source of all matter.

Many experiments have been carried out with water and how it responds to different frequencies and the results are simply mind blowing , so many different beautiful geometrical patters are formed by the sound/frequency and they get more and more complex as the frequency is increased. Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water. So this explains why on a scientific level our body and mind react so strongly to music.

But let’s talk about this on a less scientific and perhaps more spiritual level. I believe it is astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson that said “The atoms of our bodies are traceable to stars that manufactured them in their cores and exploded these enriched ingredients across our galaxy, billions of years ago. For this reason, we are biologically connected to every other living thing in the world.
We are chemically connected to all molecules on Earth. And we are atomically connected to all atoms in the universe. We are not figuratively, but literally stardust.” Meaning long before we were born our atoms existed somewhere in the universe. And long after we die and our body decays the dust from our bones will go back into the Earth, and one day when the Sun stops to be so hot, the Earth will one day crumble and turn again into dust and disperse back into the universe to form stars and galaxies. The eternal circle of universal life.
So what I am trying to say is that we are all infinite beings connected to the universe by sound and when we listen to music something happens deep within us . . . something our minds cannot conceive but our souls seem to understand very clearly. It’s as if whenever we hear music our souls are reminded of home.

As I am writing this I am listening to a singer called Gennady Tkachenko who is truly a magician when it comes to evoking deep emotions from the sounds he makes.  When I listen to him making the sounds of nature for example it’s as if Mother Earth is talking to me through him. So on that note I am going to leave you with his video. . .
