The Dangers Of Astral Projection: Can OBE Be Life Threatening?

Astral projection (or astral travel) is an interpretation of out-of-body experience (OBE) that assumes the existence of an “astral body” separate from the physical body and capable of traveling outside it. Astral projection or travel denotes the astral body leaving the physical body to travel in the astral plane. Wikipedia – astral projection

One thing that has led me to write this introduction into the subject matter is that I’ve noticed that many people associate specific fears with such a virtually unknown and unexplored topic like traveling on the astral planes. My hope is that – after you finished reading this article – it will help you to better understand the potential danger you’re dealing with.

The reason I stress out the importance of taking your fears in regards to astral projection serious is that fear is sometimes there to protect us from dealing with subjects that are not meant to be explored. At least for me, the fear of the unknown felt like a mental barrier, that stopped me from successfully inducing a projection into the astral world. Perhaps this was quite a good thing, a protective mechanism if you so will.

Is an astral projection dangerous? Can you die from it?

I nowadays believe it is dangerous but in a quite subtle way. One of the many beliefs associated with astral projection is that one can be harmed, get possessed, or die while projecting. Perhaps, there is more to it than most active practitioners of astral projection want to acknowledge. They believe that just because they have safely traveled numerous times means that there are no dangers involved in it.

I will at first show you my opinion on the dangers and thereafter back my claims up, by showing you the opinions of two respected authors on the subject matter.

Firstly, there is the theory that an astral projection can either occur consciously – by concentrating on entering the astral – or naturally when falling asleep and unconsciously accessing the astral plane. It cannot be proven so we should treat this theory with great caution. Within this theory, an astral projection is a natural thing that can even occur without having the intention to do it, even though dreamers are just accessing the lowest planes of the astral world and without being consciously aware of what is happening. Again there is no substantial evidence to validate this theory.

You might notice that many experienced projectors have reportedly seen other human beings in the lower realms of the astral, while they were dreaming. Therefore, they teach that the only difference between projecting and a sudden trip into the astral lies in the conscious awareness. Therefore, they state that it poses no harm to you. Anecdotal evidence, however, is not at all a proof that it is not dangerous. In fact, it may be just another deception:

Every night many thousands of persons leave their bodies (often while they are sleeping and frequently while they remain unaware of what is happening to them) and there is absolutely no reason to believe these people are taken over and are endangered in any way. Keith Randolph, in “The Truth About Astral Projection,” (1983)

Furthermore, they believe that every person that is traveling the astral planes has an “inbuilt” protection mechanism that automatically retrieves you into your body, once something really scares or troubles you. Not to mention that everywhere you go, your “higher-self” will accompany you, meaning that you are never alone on your journeys. This, again, is just anecdotal evidence and nothing else. It should be treated as such.

I further recommend you to do your own due diligence and to speak (if possible) with some opponents of the astral, in order to come to your own conclusions about this topic, which is always advisable.

Conclusion: You may not be hurt but you may invite unwanted and negative influences into your life.
