Itching Might Be Of Spiritual Nature Too

Everyone of us have had our run-ins with itching throughout our lives. Itching is arguably one of the most infuriating things to happen; especially if it is because if an insect bite or some allergen in the air- you really can’t protect yourself enough.

Even the extent of itching is different for everyone. I know people who can pass through a swarm of mosquitoes and come out with just a couple of red marks here and there.

And then there are those who can develop red rashes all over their bodies if they find themselves locked with a solitary mosquito in their room.

As irritating as itching is, sometimes we just can’t defend ourselves from allergies or insects well enough to avoid them.

But it is easier to deal with it once you have narrowed down the source. But what do you do when your itchiness has no physical or visible irritant to blame it on?

It is possible to develop itching even if there is no medical evidence for it. For instance, sometimes I feel unable to sleep at night due to this great unease.

I feel like an army of a thousand ants is marching under my skin. And there is nothing that I can do to make this itching sensation go away.

I have learnt that such a sensation is the sign that the irritant is not physical and hence visible. It is deep inside our own psyche, because we are troubled by something. When we bury our disappointments and our problems we are giving ourselves over to restlessness.

When we keep piling these unpleasant thoughts deeper and deeper without acknowledging them. And when we can’t hold the burden any longer, it gets expression in the form of this itching sensation.

If you have been experiencing similar sensation, and find that taking a fresh shower or any other therapy doesn’t work, it is time to turn your focus inwards. Try meditating and think about all the unpleasant experiences you have been trying to avoid.

Take your time and face them one by one, no matter how bad the conflict is. When your mind is at peace, your body will be too.
